God, who is something completely other, yearns to connect with us. That sound so simple, doesn’t it? But to understand the astronomical effort that involves, imagine trying to make a telephone call to an aborigine in the middle of the jungle. The aborigine has never seen a phone, and doesn’t understand why he would enjoy speaking and listening to it. You’d have to convince him he wants a phone call, because he could honestly care less about a white guy from a different world. A phone company would have to be paid to lay the line and install the phone reciever; in the jungle, thousands of miles from a village. He’d have to be taught what to listen for to know the call is on line, then what to do when the call comes in. And, oh yeah, you speak different languages, and an enemy tribe keeps cutting the line.
